Hippie Sabotage Asheville reviews
Ooooh baby ! baby !
Standard Vibes
We all know that this duo is known for some of their most popular bangers, especially "Stay High" for one of their closing tracks while performing live, but something always seems off during performances. While Jeff stayed at the mixer for a majority of the set, I assumed that meant Kevin would be upfront rapping and performing, but he kindof just fumbled around for 90 minutes and threw water at the crowd. I felt like I was there for a quality sound system and some bass more than an actual performance.
I understand the necessity to be "in the pit" for a show like that, but at this point it's a hype-cult following. I've heard their albums and playlists online to a much more engaging experience than the performance they give in person.
Also, there's only ever one opener with them on tour, which is usually a weak set, and local artists are never asked to contribute. A simple opener followed by a 30-40 minute intermission and then their closing set is such a small concert experience that could've been managed much more creatively.
Just my two cents!
